An Early Entry in the Overstock.com Pimp Contest

PhillyPA65 has submitted an entry in the "Who will be the next Overstock.com Pimp®?" contest.

He is clearly interested in being the next waste of corporate resources to be hired by Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne.

As a mindless pumper and stock pimp, he is a worthy successor to Evren.

PhillyPA65 stated as follows on the InvestorVillage message board for Overstock.com:

OSTK Market Cap is up to $683 Million
If the share price keeps going up, OSTK may be able to acquire smaller companies to improve their business. Any suggestions ?
Grow or die is the motto of Wall Street. Stock buyers don't won't invest in companies that are not growing. Is OSTK expanding to a global footprint ?
Does anyone know how the "so-called" analysts determine a fair value for stocks in this sector ?
What' the metric ?
AMZN has a P/E of 128 with a forward P/E of 51 (2008 ?).
P/E of 2 times revenue growth ?
Here's an analysis of the sector by Cramer's Posse:
On he continued, pumping away, pushing the fantasy.

PhillyPA65 is definitely a front runner in the contest.

Professor Bartlett has yet to be heard from.

Who is the Next Overstock.com Pimp?

Now that Evren Karpak has achieved his career objective, and was paid for his shilling of the company by getting a job at Overstock.com, the Evren Karpak Blog is beginning a competition:

Who is the next Overstock.com Pimp
® ?

Who will be the next hired by Patrick Byrne as he pays people to pump by rewarding them with Overstock jobs, paid for by shareholder money?

Who will do the best job of shilling this company?

Who will do the best job of smearing the critics of Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne?

Some of us could see it coming with Evren Karpak, who was such an obvious whore for Byrne that it was apparent that he was doing it to be paid. He was.

Who is the next on the list?

Which Overstock pumper is going to be hired by Patrick Byrne, thereby inhering the mantel of Official Overstock.com Pimp ® .

Nominations welcome. All entries become the property of the Evren Karpak Blog.

Evren Karpak Hired By Overstock.com

This blog has repeated the words of Evren Karpak, who has served as representative of Overstock.com on Internet message boards.

Evren Karpak has sought to discredit and to shut down this board. He has failed.

It has always been obvious that Evren Karpak had an ulterior motive in posting on Internet message boards, always in defense of Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne. It has been obvious that he was doing so in order to obtain employment by Overstock.com.

Today, Evren Karpak announced that he has obtained employment at Overstock.com. The nature of this employment was not disclosed. By so doing, Evren Karpak has vindicated the purpose of this blog and exposed his own dishonest motives for being a shill for Overstock.com.

He did so for personal gain.

Here is the posting by Evren Karpak announcing that he is joining Overstock.com:

'tis goodbye

Hi, guys and gals. This will be my last post on InvestorVillage for a while. Patrick and I spoke for the first time recently and the gist of it is... he asked me if I wanted to come work for Overstock and -- forgetting to put an appropriate pause for effect -- I accepted enthusiastically. We agreed that posting on message boards might create the appearance of a conflict of interest. And that an announcement here, where I do most all of my posting, would be best. It seems only the right thing to do.

Now, one way to interpret this news is that he didn't like my posts and this was the quickest, most effective way to stop them(!) I hope not. Likely, the usual suspects will come up with novel scenarios for what happened, why, etc. They will have the added satisfaction of having their pet theories go unchallenged by me. I will only point out that they have never come clean with any scenario, plausible or otherwise, for their own reasons to post here or elsewhere. Except that they are good samaritans, bent on, umm... helping us investors see the error of our ways. I think my reasons for being here were always articulated fully and now with this added wrinkle, I should stop.

But enough about them. I have enjoyed being here, for the quality of what was written and the the people who wrote them. I got to talk to many in PMs and with a few, meet in other settings. I hope to continue that as much as possible.

My one regret is that this comes at a time when there has been a palpable shift in the mood here. Instead of the siege mentality that comes naturally when being attacked on so many fronts... there is the satisfaction of hardly a week going by without some encouraging news and a sense that the tide is turning. And having these developments reflected in the stock price. In short, I was hoping to soon be "magnanimous in victory" in my posts here but I guess not. On the other hand I get to "double-down" on my investment in a very novel and unexpected way.

One last note -- rather than what and whether I posted here, it was contacts made here and interactions that got started (Judd, first and foremost) and their impression of what I could bring to Overstock that got this going. In that spirit I should also thank all the bashers who harped on the subject of me being paid/told what to post by Overstock. While never true, maybe that had a hand in getting the conversation started, too.

Not much else to say, other than it's been a great time and best wishes to all,

Evren Karpak

Evren Karpak and Dave Bartlett Scramble to Defend Overstock.com

Evren Karpak was thrown into a state of confusion by a devastating Sam Antar Blog raising difficult questions concerning the accounting at Overstock.com.

Evren Karpak has a record of making vicious attacks on critics of Overstock.com and Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne. The purpose of this blog, which Evren Karpak has sought to kill, is to focus on these statements.

Rather than responding to Antar or even reading the blog, Evren Karpak commences a personal attack on Sam Antar:

Remember -- Sam Antar has an alibi? He admits to all the lies and stealing he has been convicted of? Ergo, he must be telling the truth now. Or, something along those lines.

The thing is, even if he wasn't a convicted felon, his actions and words in the last six months would be enough to convince me that he is a scam-artist. All the, "I was so horrible in my past life, I deserve everything you can call me and worse!" doesn't change that part of the equation.

Then there is the question of whether he has any understanding of Overstock, the business, to begin with. I don't know. I can't make sense of his stream-of-consciousness rants even when they are talking about me, let alone anything else. Though, they are well-peppered with inflammatory words, accusations, etc. That much comes across.

I think his scam was honed in face-to-face interactions. Then, you may think there is a method to the madness and you just missed the beautiful reasoning in all the fast-talk. That doesn't work in writing, though, unless you are just scanning the page. Maybe that's why all his rants are so tediously long and quote the same things in full over and over again.
In a subsequent item, Evren Karpak states that he has not actually read the blog.

Former Illinois university instructor Dave Bartlett, posting under blackpartpo8, responds in character by personally attacking Antar and two other critics in a typically obscene manner:

Just Sam the Sham grasping at straws. Must have taken a break from his cyberstalking. Funny how that comes out right after options expiration and gets picked up immediately by Tracy and Gary, two known Wall Street whores.
[boldface added]

Sam declared he had proof many months ago of fraud but had to back off on that. He actually then declared that he had no knowledge of Patrick or Judd having broken any laws by saying that he was not aware of them breaking any laws and hoped they had not.

Now he is trying to justify his existence in between cyberstalking and posting the names of minors on the internet by putting out pieces designed to confuse the ignorant like Tracy and Gary. As usual his exercise was entirely meaningless and futile. AGAIN.
Dave Bartlett posted again to say, "I stand corrected. They are much worse than common whores."

Evren Karpak responded:
We agree on what Sam is doing -- "grasping at straws". But when he mentions something that *may* be a legitimate question, he deserves an answer. We can't expect everyone who reads his post to be familiar with his formulaic writing over the months here and on Yahoo, where every lie and every innuendo is framed as a question.
The strategy is consistent. Evren Karpak seeks to discredit Antar again through personal attacks, and by offering no explanation for any of the data presented in Antar's posts.

Dave Bartlett, not purporting to possess any expertise or insights, simply attacks. It is hard to believe that Evren Karpak is associated with the University of Chicago, and that Dave Bartlett is a retired professor of history at South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois.

Evren Karpak is an associate of Judd Bagley and a contributor to antisocialmedia.net.

Both Evren Karpak and Dave Bartlett, the former South Suburban College professor and historical society president, have a history of making vicious personal attacks on critics of Overstock.com and its CEO Patrick Byrne.

Why do they engage in this kind of conduct? What are their motives?

Evren Karpak Monitors Trading in Overstock.com Options

For the past few days, Evren Karpak has been monitoring trading in Overstock.com options. He posted today:

following up on yesterday's trade

Open Interest for the Aug $25 puts/calls has not changed to reflect yesterday's activity. Which means the options were likely cancelled. But the counterfeit/"air"/naked-short shares that were created as one leg of that trade are likely being used to confine the price near $20 today. I may have more detail in the coming days.

Evren Karpak
Options trading does not create "air/naked short shares." It is a legitimate and legal activity of the free marketplace.

Why does Evren Karpak have a problem with the workings of the free marketplace as far as Overstock.com?

Why is he monitoring options trading and seeking to equate such legal and legitimate trading with illegal naked short selling?

Why is Evren Karpak Afraid?

Evren Karpak tried to kill this blog. That did not work, so now he is afraid.

He has begun a blog of his own
.

He is upset by this blog.

This blog publishes the words of Evren Karpak.

His words are his own, signed by him.

Why is he afraid of his own words?

Has he said something wrong?
